Fox News Democrat Says He’ll Back Trump on Iran – ‘Whatever Decision He Makes’

Fox News contributor Harold Ford heaped praise on President Donald Trump on Tuesday, stating that regardless of the decisions Trump makes on Iran, he’ll support them.

Tensions between the U.S. and Iran have dramatically risen in recent days after Israel attacked Iran in a series of airstrikes and car bombings on Iranian military leaders and nuclear scientists across the country. Israel also targeted Iranian nuclear facilities. Initially, Secretary of State Marco Rubio distanced the Trump administration from the attacks, issuing a statement saying the U.S. was “not involved.” However, Trump reportedly was so impressed with the effectiveness of the attacks, he warmed to Israel’s offensive.

In recent days, Trump has fired off several bizarre and incendiary posts on social media. On Monday, he warned residents of Tehran, Iran’s capital of 10 million people, to “immediately evacuate.” A day later, the president simply posted, “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!” In another post, he floated the idea of assassinating Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

It is currently unclear what lengths Trump is willing to go to assist Israel in its attacks on Iran. Several Fox News hosts have refrained from weighing in one way or another as the network’s most famous viewer mulls what to do. On Tuesday’s Special Report, Harold Ford was no exception:

I give the president a lot of credit. I think he’s taking this moment very, very seriously. I was reminded of a Churchill saying – I no longer listen to what people say. I watch what they do because behavior never lies.

And I think the president’s come to the conclusion because he’s tried. He’s tried, other presidents have tried. And I hope he’s not persuaded by or even impacted by politics. When you mix national security and politics, you normally get bad results. I think whatever the president decides to do, I hope he comes before the country at the appropriate time and fully, forcefully, and credibly tells us why.

And I can tell you I’m one American who’s prepared to support the president, whatever decision he makes.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has claimed for 30 years that Iran is on the verge of making nuclear weapons, which Israel has but does not acknowledge.
