Fox News Reporter Straight-Up Asks Trump If Bombshell Comey Indictment Is ‘Revenge’ for Mugshot

Fox News Senior White House correspondent Peter Doocy straight-up asked President Donald Trump if the bombshell indictment against former FBI Director James Comey is “revenge” for the infamous mugshot scene from his own indictment.

News broke Wednesday that Comey and New York AG Letitia James (D) would likely face indictment days after Trump publicly pressured Attorney General Pam Bondi to go after a list of enemies in a DM-style Truth Social post and again in remarks to reporters. Sure enough, the indictment dropped on Thursday, with a defiant Comey pledging to fight it out in court.

Many observers believe that Trump’s explicit pressure campaign to charge Comey could lead to a strong “malicious prosecution” defense.

A cadre of reporters peppered Trump with questions about the indictment and other subjects as he departed the White House to attend the Ryder Cup Friday afternoon.

Doocy pointedly tied the push to charge Comey to Trump’s own experiences surrendering to police following his multiple indictments:

PETER DOOCY: Mr. President, because that’s how it went, where they made you go and take a mugshot, is this more about justice or is it about revenge?

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: It’s about justice really, it’s not revenge, it is about justice.

It’s also about the fact that you can’t let this go on. They are sick, radical left people and they can’t get away with it.

And Comey, Comey was one of the people, he wasn’t the biggest, but he’s a dirty cop, he’s always been a dirty, everybody knew it.

And it’s, you know, as far as the case is concerned. He gave an answer, it was a strong answer. He then verified it a couple of times, because that was a very important answer.

If he would have equivocated, if he would’ve been a little bit less sure, that would have been very bad for him. So he gave an an answer.

The only problem is for him, he didn’t think he’d be caught. And he got caught, Peter.
