Fox Panel Outraged Over Media’s Battles With Trump: ‘It Feels Like a Whiny Slap Fight’
<
As President Donald Trump struggled to clarify daughter Ivanka‘s rejection of his “enemy of the people” label for the media, one Fox News panelist said she was simply tired of the fighting.
Olympic Media Managing Editor Katie Frates felt there was blame to be shared by both the White House and the press for their rocky relationship, which turned sour long before the election.
“The media has done a lot wrong,” she said during a Thursday discussion with host Trish Regan. “The president has also handled things very poorly continuously through the election and through his first year of the presidency.”
While Frates said she agreed with Ivanka’s disapproval of Trump’s signature phrase, she also felt the media was at fault.
“At the same time, the media is not pulling any punches either,” she added. “Sometimes it feels like a whiny slap fight between the two and I wish they would step back and understand their respective roles.”
Trump 2020 advisory board member Harlan Hill took to the administration’s defense on the matter, arguing that both Trump and Ivanka could be right and that they don’t “have to march in lockstep.”
Hill also empathized with Ivanka, claiming “she’s been on the receiving end of many of the unfair smear attacks the media have waged against her family.”
Following Ivanka’s public statement earlier in the day that she felt journalists were not enemies of the people, contrary to her father’s repetitious use of the antagonistic line, Trump tweeted that she was right and that “fake news” was the real enemy.
