Fox’s Harris Faulkner Torches Whoopi Goldberg for Comparing Being Black in America to Life in Iran: ‘It’s Juneteenth!’
Fox News’ Harris Faulkner joined the backlash against Whoopi Goldberg after the View co-host compared being Black in America to living under the current Iranian regime.
On Thursday’s Faulkner Focus, Faulkner and Fox News analyst Gianno Caldwell both condemned Goldberg’s comments from the day prior. Faulkner even pointed out the Juneteenth holiday during her report to emphasize her disapproval of Goldberg.
During a debate on Wednesday’s The View about the United State potentially bombing Iran as the country’s fighting with Israel escalates, Goldberg insisted to co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin that for some people living in the United States, life isn’t all that much different for those who live in Iran.
“Let’s just remember, too, the Iranians literally throw gay people off of buildings. They don’t adhere to basic human rights,” Griffin said, also pointing out that just the clothes she was wearing at the time would land her in hot water in the country.
“Let’s not do that, because if we start with that, we have been known in this country to tie gay folks to the car,” Goldberg shot back.
She later directly compared living as a Black American to living under Iranian rule.
“I think it’s very different to live in the United States in 2025 than it is to live in Iran in 2025,” Griffin said.
“Not if you’re Black,” Goldberg responded.
“Not for everybody,” Sunny Hostin agreed.
Caldwell called Goldberg’s comments “asinine” and “despicable.”
“It’s asinine what I just heard from Whoopi Goldberg. You know, we’re two Black individuals and we’ve done well, we’re successful, and there’s a lot of other folks like us around. This is not Jim Crow, this is not slavery, and to be making those kind of comparisons is despicable,” he said.
“Just to make that comparison and not give the world credit on where we’ve come from. It’s Juneteenth! It’s June 19th. We know where we have been. That is not 2025,” added Faulkner.
The Fox News host joked that Goldberg seemed so out of touch that she may be “living” in her ABC studio.
“Whoopi Goldberg needs to get out on it,” she said. “Apparently, I don’t what’s going on in that studio, but she’s living there.”
