Fox’s Outnumbered Sounds Alarm on Zohran Mamdani’s Stunning Upset Win in Segment Riddled With Attacks: ‘Trojan Horse’ for ‘Jihadism’

The panel on Fox News’ Outnumbered expressed its disappointment with Zohran Mamdani’s upset win in New York in a segment filled with wild attacks.

A little over 12 hours earlier, fellow Democratic mayoral candidate Andrew Cuomo called Mamdani to concede the race. Mamdani — who ran on promises to freeze rent, open municipal grocery stores, and increase taxes on the wealthy to fund public services — was originally viewed as a long shot in the race, but nevertheless prevailed in Tuesday’s primary

Fox’s Emily Compagno began the segment by putting aside his campaign and bringing up Mamdani’s “blatant and rife anti-Semitism.” Critics of Mamdani — a Muslim man born in Uganda to Indian parents — have pointed to his views on Israel to accuse him of being anti-Semitic. The 33-year-old has been critical of the war in Gaza and previously said he does not believe in the Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state. His argument for the latter was that no country should have a “hierarchy of citizenship on the basis of religion.”

Mamdani has repeatedly denied allegations of anti-Semitism and condemned the rise of anti-Semitic incidents in the country since Oct. 7, 2023. Likely helping his case ahead of Tuesday night’s vote was the fact that fellow candidate Brad Lander — who’s Jewish — cross-endorsed with him and stated his belief that Mamdani will protect Jewish New Yorkers if elected as the city’s next mayor.

Mamdani also faced heat for his refusal to condemn the phrase “globalize the intifada.” In the Arabic language, an “intifada” refers to an uprising. Though there have been numerous examples of intifadas in the Middle East, the word has become most associated with the First Intifada and Second Intifada against Israel. Both conflicts involved terrorist attacks carried out by Palestinian militant groups.

Israeli activist Noa Tishby used that fact to argue that Mamdani was simply a “Trojan horse” for “jihadism,” saying:

That guy is so radical. He might be some sort of a Trojan horse — not just for Marxism, which is what he’s actually saying, but for jihadism. He is supporting the concept of this. He refuses to acknowledge Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state. He’s very coy about this, right? So when he goes on national television, he goes, “Well, yes, Israel has the right to exist.” But when asked on the debate stage, “Do you think Israel has the right to exist as a Jewish state?” he refuses to answer. This is terrible news — not just for Jews, for every single American and everybody who supports Western values. It’s horrible.

Compagno then claimed that Mamdani has “refused to condemn the Holocaust.”

“This is an individual who refused to condemn the Holocaust twice,” she said, “and now, all of a sudden, he’s the frontrunner for the Democratic Party here. What message does this send about the landscape currently?”

That accusation was a reference to Mamdani not signing measures commemorating the Holocaust and supporting Israel. In a video explaining his decision, Mamdani said he “proudly” voted for the resolution — and has voted for it every year — despite not being listed on a co-sponsor. The absence of his name was due to the fact that he told his staff at the beginning of the year not to co-sponsor anything that was emailed to his office.
