Fox’s Peter Johnson: Chris Rock’s SNL Bit Was a ‘Disservice to Comedy’

Fox News legal analyst Peter Johnson thought Chris Rock’s provocative SNL opening, in which the comedian joked about the Freedom Tower and the Boston Marathon bombing, was not only an affront to the victims of terrorism but a “disservice to comedy.”

“When you say that the conduct of erecting the Freedom Tower in the same spot is arrogant…when you resort to that kind of comment in an insane, overblown, horrific way that, then you’re doing a disservice to comedy, too,” Johnson said.

Neither did Johnson find Rock’s ISIS-entrepreneur bit too funny, as he felt it functioned against the idea of American exceptionalism, unlike previous comedians who always “supported service” through their bits.

“It may be a funny joke for Chris Rock, but is it funny and good for America?” Johnson said. “In the end, i don’t think it’s funny for anybody.”
