Garth Brooks Cancels Tonight Show Appearance Because Ferguson
Country star Garth Brooks canceled his Thanksgiving appearance on NBC’s Tonight Show because it would be “distasteful” to make promotional appearances in the immediate wake of unfolding turmoil in Ferguson, Mo.
“We landed in NY last night to the news of the civil unrest that was going on in our nation,” the singer wrote Tuesday afternoon on his Facebook page. “To spend the day promoting our stuff like nothing was wrong, seemed distasteful to me.”
NBC confirmed the cancelation, telling the Associated Press that Brooks’ appearance was replaced by Whoopi Goldberg and celebrity chef Tom Colicchio.
Brooks offered to reschedule his appearance, but its unclear when and if NBC will take him up on the offer.
