GOP Rep. Says Democrats Want to Kill Babies While They’re ‘Coming Out of the Birth Canal’ — Without Pushback From Fox’s Bartiromo

Fox Business anchor Maria Bartiromo discussed the fallout from former President Donald Trump’s statement on abortion, inviting Rep. Greg Murphy (R-NC) to talk about that and other issues. But when Murphy pushed a popular right-wing lie, Bartiromo let it slide.

Trump’s statement received backlash from people on nearly every level of the abortion rights spectrum, including those who are anti-abortion. After showing a recent Fox News poll that stated 65 percent of those polled believed abortion access should be available nationwide and 41 percent of those polled said it would be “extremely important” to their vote in November, Bartiromo asked Murphy how important he thought the issue would be:

Bartiromo: Is this going to be, do you think, a big issue in the 2024 election?

Murphy: Yeah, it’s going to be a big issue every time because you have folks on, really on both sides, really probably more Democrat that wants abortion literally when it’s coming, when the child is coming out of the birth canal, always to force the issue because it’s an emotionally charged issue. And that’s what elections are. They’re emotionally charged events.

The statement about Democrats wanting abortion laws to allow access up until the point of birth or even killing a baby after it has been born is demonstrably false and has been debunked repeatedly, including when Trump said it in his statement on Monday. But rather than call Murphy on his misinformation, Bartiromo continued the segment by asking about Ukraine aid.
