GOP Rep.: Would Be ‘Bad Business’ for Trump to Release Tax Returns to Competitors
Republican Congressman Chris Collins defended Donald Trump‘s refusal to release his tax returns by saying it’s “bad business” to do so.
Yes, the Trump campaign excuses for not releasing the returns have gone from “it’s under audit” to “it would detract from his main message.”
But Collins argued on CNN today, “He does not want to give his competitors the advantage of knowing the money he makes he doesn’t make in every partnership he’s involved in.”
Democrat Steve Israel insisted this is relevant information for someone running for president, but Collins insisted, “You still don’t disclose that kind of information to your competitors. That is bad business. He is a businessman.”
Collins concluded that Trump should not be giving competitors “that kind of advantage.”
