‘Holy Sh*t’: John Oliver Marvels at the Pope’s Resurrection of Brian Williams

Before diving deep into the Syrian refugee crisis, John Oliver opened Last Week Tonight this Sunday with a quick recap of Pope Francis I’s trip to the U.S. “He was directly responsible for a miracle,” Oliver said of the pope. “Just watch how his arrival was reported on MSNBC.”

From there, the host cut to a clip of Brian Williams’ long-awaited return to the airwaves. “Holy shit, he brought Brian Williams back from the dead! It’s a miracle!” Oliver exclaimed. “Though, I will say, hearing Brian Williams report something now is like reading about it in the New Testament: I believe a man named Pope Francis exists, but a lot of the details were probably embellished.”
