Howard Dean Didn’t Seem to Know What He Was Being Interviewed About Today
During an appearance on MSNBC this afternoon, former Vermont Governor and Hillary Clinton supporter Howard Dean made it abundantly clear that he hadn’t watched or read any news today prior to showing up for the interview.
Speaking to host Thomas Roberts, Dean was asked his thoughts on the recent release by the FBI of 100 pages of documents related to its investigation into Clinton’s email server. Roberts wanted to know how the Clinton camp was going to answer charges of a “quid pro quo,” but Dean thought he was talking about WikiLeaks.
“This is nothing — the last couple of batch e-mails revealed nothing,” Dean exclaimed. “Who is pushing this notion?”
Roberts tried to gently tell Dean that they weren’t discussing any WikiLeaks release of hacked emails but the revelations from the publication of the FBI docs. Yet again, Dean was clueless as to what Roberts was talking about.
“You know, they’re all big questions,” Dean insisted. “This is nothing. This is––somebody made this up. This is innuendo and leaks by the Russians.”
As Roberts continued to try to get Dean to realize they were talking about two different subjects, Dean blurted out, “Is this Jason Chaffetz’s stuff?”, causing an awkwardly smiling Roberts to one more time let Dean in on the fact that this was released directly by the FBI.
Once Roberts brought up the name Patrick Kennedy, Dean was able to fake himself through the rest of the portion of the segment until Roberts mercifully moved onto another subject.
