In Last Interview Before Shooting, Rep. Gabrielle Giffords Proposed Pay Cuts For Legislators

Democrat Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who was shot today at a local constituent event in Tuscon, Arizona, made her last TV appearance yesterday on Fox News before her shooting, advocating budget cuts for legislators and restricting government spending to cut the national debt.

Rep. Giffords reported to Fox News at 9:45 AM Eastern time from Tuscon yesterday morning to speak to Bill Hemmer about her attempts to reduce the debt, and her campaign for legislative pay cuts. Speaking about the debt, Hemmer noted that she “sound[ed] like a Republican,” to which she noted that reducing the deficit for her was necessary, and that she saw the passion in her constituents, especially at town hall meetings. “It was great political theater to look at these town halls,” she ominously noted, “We had lots of passionate town halls in Arizona.”
