‘It’s Hard to Imagine’ Jimmy Kimmel’s Show Ever ‘Coming Back,’ CNN Reporter Says

CNN Entertainment Correspondent Elizabeth Wagmeister suggested on Wednesday that it was unlikely Jimmy Kimmel Live! would come back anytime soon after the show was pulled from air over comments made by Jimmy Kimmel about the murder of Charlie Kirk.

“A source close to the situation tells me that this is not a cancellation at the moment, but there is no timeline for the show to come back,” reported Wagmeister on Erin Burnett OutFront. “As we know, ABC said officially in their statement that this is pre-empted indefinitely, but I have to tell you Erin, my phone is blowing up. People in the industry are absolutely shocked over this.”

She added:

And many people are saying that even though it’s not a cancellation at this moment, it’s hard to imagine the show coming back. This is not about one comment about Charlie Kirk’s killer, this is a decade of Jimmy Kimmel bashing Trump. They’ve been going back and forth for years, so it’s really hard to imagine Trump rolling out the red carpet and saying, “Hey, you’ve taken a break, why don’t you come back on the air.” So that’s where they stand right now, but people just really shocked in Hollywood, Erin.

ABC announced on Wednesday that it had suspended Jimmy Kimmel Live! after receiving backlash over Kimmel’s comments suggesting that the suspect in Kirk’s assassination, Tyler Robinson, was a right-wing Trump supporter, despite all evidence pointing to the contrary.

President Donald Trump celebrated the news in a Truth Social post on Wednesday, writing, “Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done. Kimmel has ZERO talent.”
