Jake Tapper Hits WH For Snubbing CNN Reporter For Being ‘Rude’: It’s Not Like They Care About ‘Delicate Decorum’

On Thursday night, CNN anchor Jake Tapper stopped by The Late Show and weighed in on the White House’s decision to shut out a CNN reporter from a Rose Garden event this week.

White House reporter Kaitlan Collins was snubbed by the White House after she attempted to ask President Donald Trump about his bitter relationship with his former personal attorney Michael Cohen as well as his handling of Russian President Vladimir Putin, which the administration thought was “rude.”

Well, Tapper took exception to their treatment of Collins.

“First of all, just step back for a second and contemplate the notion that anybody associated with President Trump thinking that a reporter is rude. The idea that there is a delicate decorum- that’s not how we conduct ourselves in this White House,” Tapper told Stephen Colbert.

Tapper also expressed gratitude for those who came to Collins’ defense like Fox News anchor Bret Baier and acknowledged how the network put out a statement “speaking for the part of the news division” that is “actually trying to do journalism” and not from those who spend “their entire time attacking the rest of us” in the media.

Colbert then mentioned Fox Business host Lou Dobbs who approved of the CNN shutout, which Tapper called him the “other half” of Fox News who is “ride or die” for President Trump. And while he didn’t go after Dobbs on Twitter like Colbert hoped he would, Tapper did call out Dobbs’ hypocrisy over his reaction to President Barack Obama‘s treatment of conservative reporters.
