Jason Chaffetz Does Not Deny That He’s Headed to Fox News

On Wednesday, Rep. Jason Chaffetz punted on giving a direct answer regarding the speculation that he will become a pundit on Fox News. However, he didn’t deny the rumors.

“I haven’t felt any compulsion to talk about my post-congressional life,” Chaffetz said on CNN’s The Situation Room.

Near the end of the interview today, anchor Wolf Blitzer made a general reference to “reports that you’re leaving to become… a TV pundit,” and wondered, “Is any of that true?”

The Utah Republican replied with his apprehension about talking about his “post-congressional life.” The CNN journalist followed up with his explicit reference to his network’s competitor.

“You’ve seen the reports that you’re heading to Fox News,” Blitzer asked. “Any truth to that?”

Rep. Chaffetz repeated his initial answer: “Again, Wolf, I’m not here to talk about that yet. We’re going to do that at proper time.”

Blitzer also wondered, “You think you’d be making the same choice if Hillary Clinton had won the presidency?”

The outgoing Utah politician emphasized, “I think I would make exactly the same choice… I love the work. I really do. But I love my family more.”

The CNN anchor ended the segment with a farewell of sorts: “Wherever you go, we wish you only the best. And if you head to Fox, we’ll miss you here on CNN.”
