Joe Biden: ‘I’m Not Closing The Door’ on 2020 Run

Former Vice President Joe Biden appeared on the Today show Monday morning as part of the publicity tour for his new book, and left open the door on a possible 2020 presidential run.

On to discuss his new book Promise Me, Dad: A Year of Hope, Hardship, and Purpose, a memoir about his last moments with late son Beau Biden, the former vice president was quizzed about his much-hyped 2020 ambitions.

“I honest to god haven’t made my mind up about that yet,” Biden told Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie. “Right now I want to focus on the book and I want to focus on the off-year elections.”

“But you’re not closing the door on it?” Guthrie asked.

“No, no, I’m not closing the door,” Biden replied. “I’ve been around too long, and I’m a great respecter of fate. But who knows what the situation is going to be a year from now.”

If elected in 2020, Biden would take office at 78-years-old, nearly a decade older than President Donald Trump, who was 70 when inaugurated.
