Joe Scarborough Calls Out Pro-Trump Republicans for ‘Quoting’ and ‘Channelling Hitler’
Joe Scarborough returned from his extended time away from co-hosting Morning Joe with guns blazing Monday morning, and even going so far as to blast pro-Trump Republicans “when they’re quoting Hitler, and they’re channeling Hitler.”
At issue is the presidential candidacy of former President Donald Trump, who has on numerous occasions used rhetoric similar enough to the leader of the Third Reich to draw comparisons, even from the guy most known for mocking Hitler’s comparisons. Trump has called immigrants vermin, repeatedly blamed the media for lying, and promised to be a dictator on day one of his second term. Oh, and he falsely claimed a cabal of secret government officials (under HIS administration, oddly) were responsible for stealing the 2020 election he lost.
Scarborough did not target Trump directly and instead focused his critiques on the raft of Republicans that continue to support Trump despite a continued flouting of the constitution he pledged an oath to uphold. However, he was not even sure if it was okay to call them, Republicans who gave their support to the 45th president.
“The [New York] Times had a great rundown of what happened after Trump lost what happened on January 6th. How Trump was pushed to the side and how, one by one, they all folded,” Scarborough said. “And now, we’re seeing in the media, we’re now seeing in the media because they want to get close to Donald Trump. And some media people, I guess, want to have access to him on the campaign trail these days. ”
“These Republicans — I don’t know what you call them actually when they’re quoting Hitler, and they’re channeling Hitler,” Scarborough said. “But be that as it may, the transformation keeps going, and now we’re seeing the rise once again and expect to see it in all the same spots. We saw it in 2020.”
He then went on a jag about even conservative constitutional scholars are being blamed for having “Trump Derangement Syndrome” by the most loyal supporters, showing just how deep the divide is on what was once a well-disciplined and unified GOP.
