Judge Napolitano: If Michael Cohen Told The Truth in GMA Interview, It Should Cause Trump ‘Sleepless Nights’
What was he thinking?
That, essentially, was the position of Judge Andrew Napolitano, speaking about Michael Cohen‘s Monday appearance on Good Morning America. Appearing on Outnumbered Overtime, Napolitano was perplexed at the idea that President Donald Trump‘s longtime personal lawyer would appear on national television — with Federal authorities so hot on his case.
“I don’t know why he would do this,” Napolitano said. “I can’t imagine his lawyers would want him to do so. There is no good that can come from somebody who’s under a Federal microscope.”
The consequences of speaking publicly might be particularly dire for Cohen, according to the Fox News legal analyst. Napolitano believes that Cohen is on the verge of being placed under arrest.
“He’s not a subject of a criminal investigation like the president,” Napolitano said. “He’s the target of a criminal investigation. That means he is very close to being indicted for something.”
The Judge added, “No good can come from trying to communicate with those who are trying to indict you through television, rather than through your lawyers.”
As for the implications of the interview for Trump?
“The substance of what [Cohen] told ABC, if it’s true, and if he means it, should cause the president sleepless nights,” Napolitano said. “Michael Cohen was not only the president’s lawyer, he was his fixer. The president asked him to do things that lawyers don’t typically do.”
