Kamala Harris Asked If She’ll Go to Border After Earlier Comments: ‘Yes I Will, and I Have Before’
Vice President Kamala Harris said she will go to the border after being questioned on the matter earlier.
Harris was in Guatemala Monday and Mexico on Tuesday, and on Tuesday morning NBC News’ Lester Holt pressed the VP on why she hasn’t been to the border yet.
After Harris spoke at her press conference later Tuesday, CNN’s Jeremy Diamond asked for clarification on whether she will commit to visiting the U.S.-Mexico
“Yes, I will, and I have before!” the vice president said.
“I’ve spent a lot of time on the border, both going there physically and aware of the issues,” she continued. “But the reality of it is that we need to prioritize what’s happening at the border and we have to prioritize why people are going to the border. And so let’s talk about what’s going on in the places that are causing the issue at the border.”
Harris said it would be “short-sided” to suggest “we’re only going to respond to the reaction as opposed to addressing the cause.”
