Lena Dunham Avoiding Twitter Because of ‘Deranged Neocons’

Lena Dunham isn’t checking into Twitter as much these days, and she says “deranged neocons” giving her crap on the social network are to blame. She and Girls co-star Andrew Rannells were on the red carpet last night, talking with Ryan Seacrest before the Golden Globes when Seacrest brought up Twitter.
Dunham explained she deleted Twitter because she’s “trying to create a safer space for myself emotionally.” She said, “There’s a lot of people I love on Twitter, but unfortunately you can’t read those without reading deranged neocons telling you you should be buried under a pile of rocks.”
Now, her Twitter account has not been deleted, and Dunham clarified today that she just meant she deleted Twitter from her phone:
I deleted Twitter from my phone and sometimes send a tweet to a friend I trust to post if I'm out and about and wanna share
