Megyn Kelly on Newtown Family Lawsuit Against Alex Jones: ‘It’s About Time’ He Was Held Accountable
Megyn Kelly says its high time Alex Jones was held to account for his years of spewing nonsense about the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
Three of the Newtown parents who lost their children in 2012 are suing the InfoWars conspiracy factory chief for defamation, citing his years of dismissing the tragedy as a false-flag hoax. Kelly, who grilled Jones last year in a high-profile interview, joined Craig Melvin today in order to talk about the lawsuit and dissect the various conspiracy theories Jones and his team have pushed.
Kelly received significant criticism last year for giving Jones airtime, but she defended the interview by saying it shined a light on what kind of person he is:
“The point of our speaking to Alex Jones was to expose him for the untethered conspiracy theorist that he is, and he clearly hasn’t learned his lesson because, even in response…he continues with the nonsense and the lies to the detriment of the Newtown families.”
Kelly noted that every time Jones returns to the subject of Newtown, his lunatic theories cause a resurgence of emotional distress for the Newtown families. Kelly noted how the Newtown families still receive plenty of threatening, disparaging messages from truthers, which happened often whenever Jones purposefully riles up his audience.
“A woman went to jail for threatening death to the Newtown families for this alleged hoax, which they were led to believe happened by Alex Jones. It’s about time someone tried to hold him accountable in the courts.”
