Michael Cohen Ridicules Trump’s Vietnam Summit After Dodging Draft: ‘Ironic’
Michael Cohen went for the jugular on Wednesday when he mocked President Donald Trump over the circumstances of his meeting with Kim Jong Un.
As Cohen spoke before the House Oversight Committee and went on a lengthy tear against the president, he recalled the moment from the 2016 election when Trump said John McCain was not a hero of war because he was taken prisoner while serving in Vietnam. Cohen juxtaposed this with how Trump avoided the Vietnam draft decades ago by claiming he had bone spurs that made him eligible for a medical deferment.
As Cohen explained how he defended his former boss on this issue at the time, he called it “ironic” that Trump’s in Vietnam now for his second denuclearization summit with the leader of North Korea.
“When I asked for medical records, he gave me none, and said there was no surgery. he told me not to answer the specific questions by reporters, but offer simply the fact he received a medical deferment. He finished the conversation with the following comment: ‘Do you think I’m stupid? I’m not going to Vietnam?’ I find it ironic, Mr. President, that you are in Vietnam right now.”
