Mika Goes Off on GOP for Sticking With Trump Amid Election Losses: ‘Self Destructive Suck-Ups!’
Mika Brzezinski has a hard time understanding why Republican politicians are still so glued to President Donald Trump when he’s a magnet for controversy and clearly cannot win elections for them just through endorsement.
As Morning Joe looked over the latest Stormy Daniels news on Thursday, Joe Scarborough alluded to Rick Saccone as he wondered whether Republicans are getting nervous about how many congressional seats they’ve lost in recent elections.
“They know the iceberg is straight ahead of them. They know they’re going to get routed this fall if there’s not a course correction,” Scarborough said. “It’s almost like they’re saying ‘we know Nancy Pelosi is going to be speaker in the fall so we’ll give our donors everything they need so we’ll be okay on the other side of this.”
Reporter Heidi Przybyla agreed by saying that many GOPers “bought a ticket on the U.S.S. Trump,” and now they’re plugging up the holes before the ship sinks. As Przybyla continued to note how often Republicans excuse or remain silent on the controversies swirling around Trump, Brzezinski remarks “I’ve never seen a larger group of self-destructive suck-ups.”
“Like, what good is going to come out of it,” Brzezinski asked. “How does this help them?”
Scarborough didn’t have an answer, but he did float a speech aspiring GOP politicians could give about standing up for conservative values while holding Trump accountable for his misstatements.
