Mitch McConnell Avoids Saying Whether Trump Is ‘Qualified’ for Office

mcconnellMitch McConnell this morning twice avoided answering the question of whether Donald Trump is qualified to be president.

The Senate Majority Leader has expressed varying frustrations with Trump over the course of the campaign, but he’s said he’s seen encouraging signs.

Stephanopoulos brought up polls showing a majority of people think Trump is unqualified and asked McConnell if he agrees. McConnell avoided the question while acknowledging Trump has made mistakes.

He added that Trump is showing signs of improvement, including using scripts more, but Stephanopoulos pressed him again on the question of qualifications. McConnell again deferred.

McConnell recently avoided saying whether Trump’s attacks on a Hispanic judge on the basis of his ethnicity were racist.
