MSNBC Host Gets Phone Call Live On Air — Stuns Guests By Answering It!

MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle stunned her colleagues when her phone rang loudly in the middle of a conversation — and she answered it without hesitation!

On Friday night’s edition of MSNBC’s The 11th Hour, Ruhle led a discussion on President Donald Trump’s push to nuke the filibuster. Her guests were Tom Rogers, Christina Greer, Steve Liesman, and Sami Sage.

Rogers was in the middle of making a point when Ruhle jumped on the phone with someone everyone can relate to prioritizing — even during your A-block:

RUHLE: We’re going to talk about that later in the show. I mean, it’s extraordinary because it was economic insecurity that got Donald Trump elected to begin with.

But Trump is saying it’s the shutdown’s fault, right. That’s what he said on Wednesday. Yet he isn’t telling Republicans in Congress go work with Democrats. He’s saying end the filibuster. Don’t worry. Democrats will most likely never obtain power again. That’s his message to his squad.

TOM ROGERS, CNBC FOUNDER & CONTRIBUTOR: Coupled with the message that if they do gain power, they’re going to get rid of the filibuster day one. So, you might as well do it first, because otherwise we’re going to be the ones suffering the consequences.

And so, you know, that’s not going to happen. Majority leader Thune has made very clear he doesn’t have the votes for it. It wouldn’t bother me, quite frankly, because the filibuster has become something of a tool that much more favors red states. When you think of the fact that 15 red states representing 30 senators account for about 10 percent of the entire population, and those 30 votes in the Senate get them.

RUHLE: Oh my goodness. Son, I’m in the middle of a television show. You’re the only person I would ever answer the phone for. I’m going to have to call you back.

Please, Tom, continue.

ROGERS: That’s never happened before.

RUHLE: Never.

ROGERS: I love that. I love that. And basically, that those red states representing only 10 percent of the population getting 30 of the 40 votes that they need to be able to be blocking in the Senate. So, it really would not bother me as a Democrat to see the filibuster go. It’s not going to happen over this fight, though.

Now that’s a good mom.
