MSNBC’s Chris Matthews to Interview Obama Tuesday
MSNBC announced Sunday morning that Hardball host Chris Matthews would interview President Barack Obama Tuesday, focusing on “free trade and news of the day,” per the company’s statement.
Matthews last interviewed Obama in December of 2013, for which he was criticized by Fox hosts for appearing like a “fanboy.” (Mathews returned the compliment last month.)
Prior to that interview, Matthews had wondered on air about whether the president was avoiding him. “I enjoy just duking it out with politicians at a distance,” he said at the time. “I don’t need to beg them to come on my show. But I always thought: I see the president pop up on different kinds of shows, entertainment shows like Letterman and Leno, and I go, ‘Why can’t we get him?’”
The interview will air Tuesday at 7 p.m.
