Nancy Mace Loses It After Colleague Calls Out Boob Jobs, Botox By Colleagues on House Floor: ‘Absolutely Ridiculous!’
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) lost it in the House on Wednesday after a Democrat lawmaker called out her colleagues for getting “boob jobs” and “botox,” labelling such cosmetic surgery as “gender-affirming care.”
While voting on the funding mark-up for the Department of Health and Human Services, Rep. Sara Jacobs (D-CA) called for support for “gender-affirming care” for trans people, comparing such surgeries to cosmetic touch-ups she claims plenty of her colleagues get.
When Jacobs made her pitch, she specifically called out Mace, accusing her of using “horrible slurs” to describe trans people.
Jacobs argued:
I would just like to point out that I think it’s very interesting that my colleague from South Carolina is so obsessed with the issue of trans people, using horrible slurs to talk about them when many people in this body have received gender-affirming care.
Filler is gender-affirming care, boob jobs is gender affirming, botox is gender-affirming care. Lots of my colleagues have received gender-affirming care, and let me be clear, I think everyone should have access to the gender affirming care that they need and I think we should respect everybody in this country with that.
“Ridiculous! Absolutely ridiculous!” Mace screamed.
The congresswoman did much of her screaming away from a microphone as she was told she was not being recognized.
Jacobs later requested that Mace’s words be “taken down,” but was informed that Mace was not officially recognized to speak and take part in the debate.
The debate between Jacobs and Mace was not exclusive to the House chamber, as they took shots at one another on the same subject on X.
“[Sarah Jacobs], there is no such thing as a ‘tr*ns child,'” Mace wrote to her colleague on Wednesday.
“I feel sad for you. Stop lashing out against trans kids and pretending it’s to ‘protect women.’ Hope you get the help you need,” Jacobs shot back.
