New Amateur Video Of The Shuttle Challenger Exploding Released After 26 Years
On Thursday, Studio B host Shepard Smith showed viewers recently-released amateur footage of the Challenger explosion.
The Karman family was vacationing in Orlando, Florida back in 1986, excitedly filming Space Shuttle Challenger’s ascent into space when dad Bob Karman inadvertently captured footage of the shuttle falling apart. As you can hear from the people around him, on-lookers had no idea what had happened and were unsure if something had gone wrong.

Bob’s daughter, Kim Karman, said her dad recently went through his old footage to digitize it all.
