NFL Network: Only One Single Player Was Set to Attend Philadelphia Eagles Event at White House

The NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo was able to get confirmation on Tuesday that the number of players from the Philadelphia Eagles who were confirmed to attend the White House event celebrating their Super Bowl victory was less even than the “10 or fewer” number they first reported on Monday.

In fact, the only person they knew was confirmed to attend was Super Bowl MVP Quarterback Nick Foles. There would potentially have been at most two additional players, for a total of three or fewer, said Garafolo.

The White House said “no thanks”, as Garafolo put it.

President Donald Trump abruptly disinvited the Super Bowl-Champions on Monday, after finding out that most of the team would not be attending the celebration. In a statement, he blamed the cancellation on national anthem protests, but none of the Eagles knelt for the anthem during last season. After calling off the event, Trump instead held a separate event to “celebrate America.”
