Olbermann Defends Brian Williams: He’s ‘Personally Hurt’ by Factual Errors
Once upon a time, Keith Olbermann was colleagues at NBC with Brian Williams, and on The Late Show last night, Olbermann defended his old colleague amid his suspension for exaggerating war stories.
Olbermann told David Letterman that of all the people he’s worked with, “The guy who would get the most personally hurt when there was a factual error on the air was Brian Williams.” He said even if Williams wasn’t personally responsible for the error, he always stepped up and took responsibility.
He also pointed out that to exaggerate about his time in Iraq requires Williams having gone to Iraq in the first place, which itself is admirable. Olbermann and Letterman agreed they’d like to see Williams return to TV soon.
