Rachael Ray Tears Up During Biden’s Last-Minute Obamacare Pitch

Vice President Joe Biden took his final pitch on the Affordable Care Act to Rachael Ray’s syndicated program Monday and found an emotional, effective pitchwoman in the daytime talk show host. Ray began to tear up as she described to Biden and her audience how her family used Healthcare.gov to help her brother find a new insurance plan after he was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease.
“My mom and my sister went on the site and used it as a resource to find the people in our community and they found the right healthcare for my brother and his child,” Ray explained. “It is such an important resource for Americans, and I just thank this administration for doing this.”

Biden then used Ray’s story to tout the “peace of mind” Obamacare can bring to people like her brother and millions of other Americans who will no longer be able to be dropped by their insurance companies for having pre-existing conditions. When Ray pointed out that she was “getting teary” because of how “emotional” the issue is for her, Biden commiserated, saying, “No, it’s personal.”
“I hope that young people take it seriously enough to get online today and get signed up,” Ray said to her viewers on the final day of the enrollment period. “It’s so important to take advantage of this.”
