Rachel Dolezal Walks Out of Interview When Asked Whether She’s Truly Black

Screen Shot 2015-06-12 at 10.09.15 AMSpokane NAACP leader Rachel Dolezal has become national news after it was revealed that she has been pretending to be black for nearly a decade. When asked about her racial background by a local TV reporter, Dolezal abruptly exited the discussion.

KXLY4’s Jeff Humphrey saved the ethnicity questions for the end of an interview about Dolezal’s experience with reporting hate crimes. The reporter showed the 37-year-old professor of African studies a photograph of a man and asked if she could confirm that he is, indeed, her father. And then came the awkward part.

Dolezal initially pretended to not understand the question, but after repeated pressing on the matter, decided to walk off-set.
