Rand Paul Moves Column to Breitbart Following Plagiarism Accusations
Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has moved his weekly column from the Washington Times to Breitbart, after the Times ended his column following an accusation of plagiarism in last week’s piece.
“Paul is pleased to partner with Breitbart News and looks forward to the new, wider audience for his columns,” Paul aide Doug Stafford told Breitbart, according to their announcement Thursday morning.
“We are pleased to add Senator Paul to our lineup of fearless, original thought leaders,” Breitbart News CEO Larry Solov said. “Most of all, we think the fighting spirit he has become known for is a perfect fit for Breitbart News Network and reflects that of our founder, Andrew Breitbart.”

The move follows two weeks of increasingly-serious allegations of plagiarism, which began after Rachel Maddow spotted the senator lifting a Gattica plot summary from Wikipedia, but became far more worrisome when portions of Paul’s most recent book were found to be copied from various think tank reports, and a sentence from his Times column on mandatory minimums to be taken from an article in The Week. The Breitbart announcement did not address the charges.
