Republican Town Hall ERUPTS After Audience Asks, ‘Why Are You Covering Up the Epstein Files?’
A town hall with Rep. Mike Flood (R-NE) erupted on Monday after the congressman was asked why his party was “covering up” files related to the late child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
“Why are you covering up the Epstein files?” asked a member of the audience as the room erupted into applause and shouting.
Flood responded, “Let’s be very clear. At the next pro forma session of Congress, you’ll find my name as a sponsor on a resolution from the House Rules Committee to release the Epstein files, to protect the victims and not re-victimize them again. I support Jamie Comer, who is the House Oversight Committee chairman, subpoenaing Ms. Maxwell later this month to come testify in Washington. I am for the release of those records.”
Flood’s remarks did little to quell members of the audience, who continued to shout down the congressman.
Last month, House Republicans voted against an amendment that would have mandated the Trump administration to preserve and release all documents related to the Epstein case.
“Get the information out there, get it to the people, protect the victims, charge those we have probable cause that did that, but remember, nothing happened for the better part of four years with an administration that actively charging and prosecuting these kinds of crimes day in day out,” said Flood last month upon being asked about the Epstein files.
President Donald Trump, meanwhile, has repeatedly lashed out at the media and even his own supporters for asking about Epstein, whose former relationship with Trump has come under close scrutiny in recent months.
