Rick Santorum Wins Kansas Primary Caucus, Romney Wins Guam & Wyoming

This Saturday marked several small caucuses for which the candidates campaigned on their way to the bigger delegate draws of Alabama and Mississippi on Tuesday. In a report that did not come as a surprise to many following the Republican primaries, Rick Santorum has won the Kansas caucuses, which word came to this side of the globe earlier today that Mitt Romney sweeped Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands.

According to the LA Times
, Santorum’s victory in Kansas came by a large margin, particularly in the state’s biggest caucus of Sedgwick County, where he won 55% of the vote (1,650 votes). Rep. Ron Paul came in second there, while Romney ended in third place. That caucuses is considered to reflect where most of the state will end up, though not all caucuses have ended.

Meanwhile, the Guam and Northern Marianas Islands primaries were near unanimous in their support of Romney (via AP):

Romney won 87 percent or 740 of the 848 votes cast in the main islands of Saipan, Tinian and Rota as the former Massachusetts governor seeks more secure footing as the front-runner in the race to become the GOP’s nominee for U.S. president.

Rick Santorum got 6 percent or 53 votes. Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich got 3 percent each or 28 and 27 votes, respectively.
