Roy Moore Spox on Whether Moore Thinks Homosexual Conduct Should Be Illegal: ‘Probably’

CNN’s Jake Tapper went head-to-head with Roy Moore spokesman Ted Crockett, particularly focusing on past comments of Moore’s about homosexual conduct.

Tapper first confronted Crockett about the multiple allegations of sexual misconduct against Moore and whether that will be a problem for Moore if he wins.

Crockett immediately pointed to Beverly Nelson‘s yearbook and called the inscription a “forgery.” Tapper reminded him that Nelson wrote the date and location, but that it hasn’t been proven yet that the signature and message wasn’t his.

Crockett insisted that this is all a “smear campaign” and dismissed the concerns being voiced by Republicans like Alabama Senator Richard Shelby.

Tapper went on to bring up comments Moore made over ten years ago, saying that he believes “homosexual conduct” should be illegal.

So Tapper asked Crockett if he still believes that. Crockett said, “Homosexuality is a sin in the biblical sense.”

Tapper again asked, “Does he think homosexual conduct should be illegal? It’s a yes or no question.”

Crockett said, “Probably.”

There was also a rather awkward moment when Tapper explained to Crockett that one does not have to swear in on a Bible…
