Sanders Campaign Manager: We’re Having ‘Back-Channel Discussions’ About Trump Debate

Donald Trump was obviously completely totally unserious when he said “sure why not” to a debate with Bernie Sanders, but the Sanders campaign is trying to hold Trump to his word.

Sanders himself accepted the totally-real-all-along debate offer on Twitter (which, remember, came about in the first place because of a question Sanders wanted Jimmy Kimmel to ask Trump), and on MSNBC today, Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver said there are already “back-channel discussions” about this.

But, again, Trumpworld has made it clear Trump was not being serious about this, and yet Weaver told Andrea Mitchell Trump totally “sounded serious” about that idea.

Mitchell asked the obvious question: “He’s setting you up, isn’t he?”
