Sharyl Attkisson Speaks Out About ‘Serious And Disturbing’ Computer Hacking: ‘I’m Outraged’
On Friday, a CBS News internal investigation revealed that investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson’s personal and work computers had been compromised. “Sophisticated” methods were used to access her computers in 2012, at the time when Attkisson was pursuing details relating to the Benghazi attacks and the Fast and Furious “gun walking” scandal. On Monday, she spoke out and said that she was “outraged” by the “disturbing” revelation.
“There were signs of unusual happenings in my home for many months,” Attkisson said. She noted that her computers would turn themselves on and then off again overnight.
She says that she reported these suspicious patterns in January. Attkisson reported that the subsequent investigation by a computer forensics firm ruled out unsophisticated malware or phishing programs as being responsible.
“It is a very serious and disturbing matter, and I am outraged that they would do such a thing,” she continued.
