Sherri Shepherd on Leaving The View: ‘God Said It Was Time to Go’

In her first interview since leaving The View, Sherri Shepherd seemed to have no regrets about leaving, though she admitted “It was hard leaving.”

“Do you miss it?” Steve Harvey, who was hosting her on his show, asked.

“No. No I don’t,” she said. “I love my family — Whoopi’s there — but this is a new team, and God said it was time to go. If you don’t go when God says go, you’re going to be in a lot of trouble if you stay.”

Shepherd, who had been with the show for seven years, mentioned that she was still in touch with her coworkers, and lavished praise on Whoopi Goldberg, who she says is one of her best friends. “Whoopi is the same woman you see on TV who will open her heart up to you,” she stated, and told this awesome story about how she’d showed up to Shepherd’s recent broadway production of Cinderella.

Shepherd left the daytime talk show earlier this year amidst rumors of contract disputes, along with fellow co-host Jenny McCarthy.
