State Of The Union “Date Night” Gets Post-Game “Hot Couples” Wrap On MSNBC

Maybe it’s me, but there’s something unpleasant about seeing a still image of Vice President Joe Biden and House Speaker John Boehner with a graphic reading “Hot Couples on the Hill.” But plunging ahead with tongue stuck firmly in cheek, MSNBC’s Richard Liu today offered viewers a post-game breakdown on all the “date night” pairings, the result of–can it be?–hours of hard work. As Liu puts it, “we looked at the tape, pair by pair” and discovered–yes–a pattern!

Turns out all those cute Capitol couples can be divided into four groups: the “huggers,” the “flirts,” the “awkward moments” couples (yes, he’s looking at YOU, Anthony Weiner) and, finally–and perhaps sadly–the “dateless.”
