Stephen A. Smith: If NFL Can Welcome Back Michael Vick, Ray Rice Could Return Too
Stephen A. Smith joined Sean Hannity tonight to talk about Ray Rice and the question of whether he can ever make a comeback in the NFL. And honestly, Smith said, if Michael Vick return to the NFL after a dog-fighting scandal nearly tanked his career, there’s hope for Rice too.
Hannity brought up the NFL’s recent outreach to women and wondered if their fairly successful efforts would dry up if they ever decided to bring Rice back. Smith made it clear that in no way will Rice be allowed back in the current season because he’s just that “nuclear,” but didn’t rule out a future return.
He told Hannity that Michael Vick did it right because he “showed the appropriate level of contrition,” spoke out against animal abuse, and didn’t dodge questions. And so if Rice wants to rehabilitate himself, he “can’t hide, he’s got to be front and center.”
