Tapper Confronts Jeb for Slamming Dems on Radical Islam: Your Brother Said Islam Is Peace
Jeb Bush was one of many Republican candidates last night who slammed Hillary Clinton for refusing to identify radical Islam as a threat. But CNN’s Jake Tapper confronted him this morning with none other than his own brother’s words.
Yes, in the days after 9/11, George W. Bush delivered a speech in which he said that “Islam is peace.” And Clinton last night, in defending her refusal to ID radical Islam, invoked the Bush administration.
Jeb Bush said this isn’t about religion, it’s about a “political ideology that’s co-opted a religion” and that’s what the Democrats need to face.
Tapper pointed out that the Bush administration didn’t ID radical Islam as a threat and said if Clinton ever said anything like “Islam is peace,” Republicans would blow up at her.
Bush defended his brother’s leadership in the war on terror while saying that Islam is a “peaceful” faith.
