Tavis Smiley: Bill O’Reilly ‘Oughta Put Down the Crack Pipe’
If Bill O’Reilly thinks white privilege doesn’t exist, Tavis Smiley assumes the Fox host must be smoking something strong.
Throughout this summer’s protests in Ferguson, Mo., after a white police officer shot and killed an unarmed 18-year-old black man, O’Reilly consistently dismissed the existence of “white privilege” in both law enforcement behavior and in society at large.
Speaking with Fusion’s Jorge Ramos this week, Smiley took a sharp jab in response: “I think Bill O’Reilly oughta put down the crack pipe. If he doesn’t believe that white privilege in this country exists, he’s smoking something.”
He added: “I think it’s a waste of good TV time to debate such a nonsensical statement from my friend Bill O’Reilly.”
