‘They Tried To Get Him Divorced!’ Eric Trump Makes Odd Claim About Biden Administration

Eric Trump lodged a new grievance against the Biden administration on Monday, claiming it tried to incite a divorce between President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.

Trump appeared on Newsmax, where host Rob Schmitt played a montage of TV news hosts and Democratic politicians ripping the prosecution of former FBI Director James Comey. Last week, the Department of Justice indicted Comey at the president’s behest, supposedly for lying during sworn testimony before Congress in 2020. Legal experts have panned the prosecution and predicted it will not yield a conviction.

The Comey indictment has prompted the president’s critics to allege that the prosecution is yet another example of the president using the DOJ to go after his political foes.

Eric Trump vehemently rejected that framing and said the real victims of weaponization are the Trump family.

“I’m the subject of 112 subpoenas, never having done a damn thing wrong in my life, never crossing a line, being a perfect role model, being a perfect model citizen, no laptops from hell, nothing,” he said. “And they came after me like I was a dog.”

He then pivoted to his father and reiterated a series of long-held grievances – some real, some imaginary – about the prosecutions of the president, who was indicted in four jurisdictions. Two of those cases involved the president’s attempt to overturn the 2020 election. Another centered on his retention of government documents after leaving office. A fourth ended in convictions on 34 counts of falsifying business records. Eric Trump said:

They tried to impeach my father two times. You know, they went after him for a Russia hoax that did not exist that was paid for by Hillary Clinton. The FBI and the DOJ spied on my father’s campaign. They de-platformed him. They weaponized every attorney general and every district attorney around the country. They indicted him 91 times, 34 times in a bogus trial in New York City.

They posted his mugshot. He’s the most recognizable person in the world. They posted his mugshot even though they didn’t need to. It totally backfired on him. They gagged him over and over and over! They raided his home! They raided Mar-a-Lago! They tried to get him divorced! They tried to separate our family! They tried to go after our employees! They attacked us. They tried to bankrupt our company. They de-platformed us! They stripped every bank account away from me and the Trump Organization that you can imagine.

And Merrick Garland was at the forefront of all of it. And Joe Biden was at the forefront of all of it when they raided our home, when they raided Mar-a-Lago, when they raided Melania’s closet, when they raided 16-year-old Barron’s room.
