‘This Is Big League’: CNN’s Harry Enten Says Americans ‘Like What They’re Seeing’ From Trump So Far

CNN data guru Harry Enten poured over polling data Friday and declared that Americans “like what they’re seeing” from President Donald Trump during the first week of his second White House term.

Citing polling from Reuters/Ipsos, Enten noted Trump would end the week with his highest approval rating ever and with a net positive favorability rating – unlike January 2017, when Trump entered office for the first time underwater.

To begin his first term, Trump posted a net favorability rating of negative three points compared to Friday when he sat in positive territory by six points.

“Look, the American people really like what they’re seeing, at least compared to where Donald Trump started eight years ago, right?” Enten told CNN News Central anchor Kate Bolduan as they looked at the former’s big board. “This is Reuters/Ipsos, it’s among adults. It was taken the first few days of this administration. Look here, back in January 2017, Donald Trump became the first president in history to start his presidency with a net negative approval rating.”

Enten noted Friday polling showed 47 percent of American adults approved of Trump this week compared to 41 percent who disapproved of him.

“That’s up nine points,” he said. “To borrow a Donald Trump phrase, this is big league!” He added:

This is a sign that the American people – at least initially – like what they’re seeing. And so you see right here, more Americans approve of Donald Trump’s job than disapprove. And that is very much, very much unlike what we saw eight years ago.

So, Donald Trump isn’t just in a better position than he was eight years ago at this point. He’s in a better position than he was at any point during his entire first term. Things have very much turned around. This is a very different Donald Trump. He’s leading a very different administration the way he’s attacking things, and the American public is very much more in line with him than they were at any point during his entire first term.

Enten concluded that Trump is the only president in history to post a higher net approval rating in the first month of his second term than he did at any point during his first term.
