Tommy Tuberville Says He Hasn’t Seen Anyone Drunk in the Senate After Colleague Accuses Senators of Drinking on the Job

Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) insisted on Tuesday that he hadn’t seen anyone drunk in the Senate after his colleague Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) accused Democratic senators of drinking on the job.

After Democrats in the Senate grilled President-elect Donald Trump’s secretary of defense nominee Pete Hegseth over accusations that he had showed up drunk to his set on Fox News – accusations Hegseth and his colleagues denied – Mullin accused his colleagues from across the aisle of doing the same.

“How many senators have showed up drunk to vote at night?” asked Hegseth. “Have any of you guys asked them to step down and resign from their job? And don’t tell me you haven’t seen it because I know you have.”

During an interview with Tuberville on Fox News, Tuesday, host Laura Ingraham asked the senator whether it was true that Democrats in the Senate had been turning up drunk to vote.

“Senator, just for the record, have you seen anyone show up drunk to vote in the Senate?” she questioned. “Anything you wanna tell us tonight about any of your colleagues?”

Tuberville replied, “I don’t know any underlying stories and there are probably some out there. Now, there’s times that we’ll start and have started voting at three or four in the afternoon and go to the next day at noon, 20 hours, 21 hours straight and that might like make some of us look like we’ve had a long night at the bar, but I don’t see any of that. I really don’t.”

He concluded, “But I was sat beside Markwayne, you can probably look at my facial expressions when he’s doing all that.”
