Trump: Benghazi Hearings Were ‘Disaster’ for the GOP, Bad for the Country
Donald Trump called into Fox & Friends this morning and had some critical comments about the Benghazi hearings.
Trump was discussing Trey Gowdy, the chair of the Benghazi Special Committee, because of his reported endorsement of Marco Rubio this week. He retweeted some harsh attacks on Gowdy today.
When asked about Gowdy joining Rubio on Fox & Friends, Trump said, “I hope he does a better job than he did, frankly, in the Benghazi hearings, because they were a total disaster.”
He lamented how they were unproductive and “not good for Republicans and for the country,” adding, “I mean, beyond Republicans, it was very bad for the country.”
Trump hasn’t been shy about going after Clinton on Benghazi, even putting out an Instagram ad showing her laughing head superimposed over the ruins of the U.S. consulate.
