Trump Complains to Baier That Zelensky, Ukraine ‘Pissed Away’ Billions Fighting Off Russia: ‘Congress is Very Upset!’

President Donald Trump criticized US aid to Ukraine during an interview Friday with Fox News’ Bret Baier, claiming Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “pissed away” billions of American taxpayer dollars.

Speaking on Special Report, Trump dismissed concerns about pressuring Russian President Vladimir Putin and instead focused on what he described as irresponsible spending of US funds – and Zelensky’s use of them.

“I hated to see the way it was, excuse me, pissed away,” Trump told the Fox anchor. “I hated to see that checks were sent for $60 billion.”

Trump accused Zelensky of exploiting congressional aid packages and repeatedly visiting Washington to secure massive financial commitments.

“Zelensky, he comes to Washington, he walks out with $100 million every time he came, $100 million, $100 million,” Trump said. “Now, his abilities were shrinking because the last time, he only got $60 billion.”

Trump said his issue was not with spending money itself, but how it was used.

“The money, we can make up. I can make up the money on one trip like this,” he said of visiting the Middle East. “I made in four days — I made 12 times what we spent in Ukraine.”

Baier pressed him on whether the real issue was holding Putin accountable.

“It’s not about the money. It’s about pressuring Putin, right?” Baier asked.

Trump replied, “No, no, but I have always been good with money. I make money.”

The president did not offer any specific examples of Zelesnky’s alleged misuse of US taxpayer dollars but said members of Congress were also upset.

“Congress is very upset about it,” he told Baier. “They’re saying, where is all this money going?”

Trump has been attempting to broker a deal to end the war in Ukraine, and his been highly critical of Zelensky. On numerous occasions, he has implied that Ukraine started its own invasion.
