Trump Goes On Fiery Iran Tirade: ‘They Will Pay A Price Like Few Countries Have Ever Paid’

It was going to be nigh impossible to get through the press conference with President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron without a Trump rant. And lo and behold, the president delivered.

Trump spoke about the “tremendous cost” the United States has incurred “protecting” Middle Eastern countries, saying that they will “have to now step up and pay for what’s happening.”

“The United States is embarrassingly into the Middle East as of a few months ago, as you’ve heard me say before,” Trump said. “And I don’t take responsibility, but I would be very embarrassed if I had to. $7 trillion.”

“The countries that are there that you all know very well are immensely wealthy,” he added. “They’re going to have to pay for this. and I think the president and I agree very much on that. And they will pay for it…. We’ve spoken to them. They will pay for it.”

Trump continued by saying that he’s going to “bring lots of people home” and Middle Eastern countries will have to “put soldiers on the ground, which they’re not doing.”

“Nobody knows what I’m going to do on the 12th, although Mr. President, you have a pretty good idea,” he said of the Iran deal. “But we’ll see. But we’ll see also if I do what some people expect, whether or not it will be possible to do a new deal with solid foundations. Because this is a deal with decayed foundations.”

“I blame Congress, I blame a lot of people for it. But it should have never been made. And we’re going to see what happens on the 12th,” Trump concluded. “But I will say if Iran threatens us in any way, they will pay a price like few countries have ever paid. Okay?”
