Trump Official Claims Employee He Fired Thanked Him for Termination and Said, ‘This Really Wasn’t a Necessary Job’
The director of the U.S. Federal Housing Finance Agency said a government employee he fired thanked him for the dismissal because, the worker allegedly said, the job was unnecessary.
Bill Pulte, a donor to President Donald Trump, was appointed by the president to run FHFA and also serves as chairman of the board of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Last month, Pulte began consolidating the two government-sponsored enterprises tasked with boosting the country’s mortgage market. As part of that effort, he appointed Christopher Stanley an executive at X, which is owned by Elon Musk – to Fannie Mae’s board. Moreover, Pulte himself is an investor in X. In January, Trump appointed Musk as the head of the “Department of Government Efficiency,” which has laid off tens of thousands of federal employees and frozen congressionally appropriated funds at various agencies.
On Wednesday, Pulte joined The Ingraham Angle on Fox News and discussed the happenings at FHFA. While doing so, he said someone thanked him for being let go.
“Essentially, the government owns about 80%, Treasury owns about 80% of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac,” Pulte said. “And so, what we’re really focused on is getting operational efficiency in these companies going again. But when people weren’t showing up for work, uh, by the way, we got rid of climate. We got rid of DEI.” I actually had somebody who lost their job in the climate area today come in and thank me and say, ‘You know, this really wasn’t a necessary job.’ I mean, it’s crazy. People are so excited. I’m telling you, the hallways of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, these companies are gonna boom again. They’re gonna be great American icons once again.”
